The Southeast Asian Deportation Relief Act (SEADRA) is one step toward dismantling the deportation machine. SEADRA will bring immediate and material relief for our community members fighting their deportation orders while they care for and support their loved ones.

Approximately 15,000 long-term Southeast Asian residents currently live under final orders of removal. Many came here as children — refugees from wars the U.S. helped create. They have spent their entire adult lives in this country. Many speak only English. Their families, their communities, everything they know is here.

Under the Trump Administration, the number of arrests, detentions, and deportations for Asians and Pacific Islanders are seven times higher than the previous Administration. We see many were shackled hand and foot on flights lasting over 50 hours to countries they left as children. For the Lao and Hmong community, the number of deportation in 2026 is five times that of the last 10 years combined.

Deportations are happening now. The Trump administration is moving fast. Community pressure— letters, calls, stories, and organized action— is what moves Congress. Every day matters. Every action matters.

In February 2026, SEAFN’s sibling organization SEA-ACTION and the Southeast Asia Resource Action Center (SEARAC) supported Representatives Judy Chu (D-CA, 28) and Pramila Jayapal (D-WA, 7) to reintroduce SEADRA . Along with Representatives Chu and Jayapal, the bill is co-led by Representatives Zoe Lofgren (D-CA, 18) and Ayanna Pressley (D-MA, 7). We remain steadfast in our commitment to bringing immediate relief to our most impacted Southeast Asian communities. We believe in the power of our collective action to end deportation now.
